A story of a brother and sister who are tired of their parents constant
arguing. The story highlights the irreconcilible differences between their
mum and dad and how the children steer them towards "un-marrying" each
other. It has a happy ending with the parents celebrating an "un-wedding"
and jetting off to separate "un-honeymoons." This is a very humourous
and lighthearted illustration of a serious issue. A very refreshing read!

Madame Doubtfire

Available to Borrow from OPFS: No
Those who have seen the film but not read the book have missed a great
deal. The plot of Madame Doubtfire is far funnier and the dialogue more
gripping and astute than the one on celluloid. Lydia, Christopher and
Natalie Hilliard struggle to come to terms with their parents' divorce
and the constant warring that goes on between adults. Daniel's solution
to seeing his children is to become a talented and highly effective housekeeper
in his ex-wife's home. What really comes across in this book is the children's
pain and suffering in the face of the grown-ups horrendous verbal banter.
Children will undoubtedly find much to laugh about in this book but perhaps
it should be compulsory reading for all adults contemplating divorce.
