AGM and Conference - 2010

Posted on 6th September 2010

The OPFS Annual Conference will be held in the Albany Centre, Glasgow on Friday 26th November. This year’s theme will be "Supporting Lone Parents into employment”. OPFS is keen to explore the ways in which the voluntary sector can support work with employers which yields sustainable jobs for lone parents, taking them out of poverty.

We intend to showcase our 2 programmes which we deliver in partnership with Marks & Spencer (Edinburgh) and Barclaycard (Glasgow). A key theme of the day will be that these programmes have been successful because OPFS takes an integrated, holistic approach to supporting lone parents into employment, training & education. This involves meeting the very specialist support needs of lone parents through offering the Lone Parent Helpline Service as well as Income Maximization, Money Advice & Financial Capability services.

We have invited the Minister, Alex Neil MSP to speak along with Ian Duncan Smith MP (tbc) and David Coyne, Chief Executive of Glasgow Works. We will also have speakers from Barclaycard and Marks & Spencer’s. Please call Rory Ross on 0131 556 3899 or email roryross@opfs.org.uk to book your place.
