The income limit for Child Tax Credit is going down.
Child Tax Credit payments depend on your circumstances and income.
From 6 April 2012, the income limit for you will depend on your own situation. But as a very rough guide, you might not be able to get Child Tax Credit from 6 April 2012 if:
1) you have one child, and your annual income is more than around £26,000
2) you have two children, and your annual income is more than around £32,200
But it's important to know that this is a rough guide and the income limit for you may be different, as it depends on your own circumstances.

A number of on-going initiatives in welfare reform are taking place which will have far-reaching effects on lone parents. This seminar will update you on the changes.

Save the Children and One Parent Families Scotland have published a new report. "Ensuring Universal Credit supports working mums in Scotland" highlights how the introduction of the Universal Credit which will consolidate most tax credits and benefits into one payment will actually make some single parents on low pay and some second earners in the household, substantially worse off. Mothers make up a large majority of both these groups. We are concerned that the impact could push thousands of children in Scotland deeper into poverty.

Horizons Trainers deliver confidence building courses as well as supporting parents to look at options and choices in employment, training, education or volunteering. We also hold legal advice surgeries (family law). OPFS supports lone parents to prepare for the future and to give lone parents a voice.

Members of the Scottish Campaign on Welfare Reform have hit out at Iain Duncan Smiths recent claims that “feckless” families spend benefit on themselves rather than on their children as a cynical attempt to cover up the Coalition’s latest attack on the dignity of benefit claimants.
