A Marks & Start work placement success story

A Marks & Start work placement success story

Hazel McGill was a single parent who’d been out of work for over 6 years when she joined the Marks & Start employability training programme. Hazel was initially very nervous, but really keen to take part in the programme.

Hazel successfully completed her placement at the Ayr M&S store in February/March 2016. Her feedback from the store was fantastic and her confidence really grew.

We contacted the Manager of the soon-to-be-opening Heathfield store regarding recruitment and highlighted Hazel’s progress. The Manager met with Hazel while she was on placement and was so impressed they offered her a job, which she started the week after finishing her placement.

As a mark of her continued success, when the new Heathfield store opened on Thursday 31 March 2016, Hazel was asked to cut the ribbon (see photo above).

Congratulations, Hazel!
