Cumbernauld and Airdrie – Dads Hub
Our North Lanarkshire Dads Hub have just secured further funding from the Early years Collaborative Change Fund to continue with the service.
The Wednesday Hub session includes information on health and well-being, family finances, welfare reforms, parenting and the opportunity for dads to meet other dads and share tips on parenting alone.
One to One support outwith the Hub is also provided. Our mentors have been single parents, and know of the issues and barriers many single dads face. Single dads taking part have informed us this is an invaluable part of the service.
Recently several of the dads took part in a local community event hosted by Cornerstone House and funded through the Scottish Government Particpatory Budget programme.
This has allowed the dads to bid for a share of the funding. They were awarded £1200 for their “Making Memories” programme. This programme will allow the dads and their children take part in a series of family outings over the Easter and summer period and create memory books for their children.
