This free half-day course (3hrs) is aimed at practitioners who have some benefit knowledge and support single parents in their work. The course provides an introduction and overview of universal credit rules for single parents in Scotland. It includes how the calculation works, the claims and payments process, the conditions placed on claimants and matters unique to Scotland.
By the end of the course participants will:
Know when single parents are affected by universal credit
Know which benefits are being abolished and which benefits remain
Understand how universal credit is made up and calculated
Understand work-related conditions and how to deal with sanctions
Have resources to share with single parents and colleagues
Have access to our Practitioners Advice Helpline for unlimited ongoing support
All content updated for 2018-19. A basic benefit knowledge is necessary to get the most out of the session.
