Online child maintenance payments introduced this week
The final stage of the government’s widespread child maintenance reforms has been implemented this week. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched an online payment system, designed to allow users to send and receive secure payments 24 hours a day, review records of written and telephone correspondence, and to send enquiries about the service.
One of the key aims of the child maintenance reforms is to cut down on government involvement in child maintenance and to encourage parents to reach agreements on maintenance between themselves. At One Parent Families Scotland we understand that working together can be difficult when relationships have broken down. We are working in partnership with ParentLine Scotland and the Scottish Child Law Centre to deliver the Family Decision Making service, supporting separated and separating families to reach positive decisions that benefit their children.
