‘Disability Assistance’ benefits are the next big step in creating a social security system in Scotland. The new benefits will be equivalent to those presently delivered by the DWP. This includes: Disability Living Allowance; Child Disability Living Allowance (Child DLA); Personal Independence Payment and Attendance Allowance.

OPFS has submitted a response to the Scottish Government proposals for the new benefits. We recognise the important role disabled parents, parents with disabled children and those affected by ill-health play in identifying solutions to the challenges they face and that these solutions can be of benefit to others. We used an on-line survey and workshops to ask single parents about their views on the consultation and to share some of their knowledge and experience to inform our response to the Scottish Government.
