Out Now! New Dates for free training on Universal Credit & Single Parents
Benefits across the UK are changing. Most means-tested benefits are being abolished and rapidly replaced with universal credit. This transformation will affect most single parents so One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS) is offering free training to practitioners in Scotland on ‘Universal Credit and Single Parents’. People attending will be able to keep up to date with all the changes and make sure single parents they work with know their rights.
With four more local authority areas in Scotland next in line to experience roll-out of Universal Credit OPFS has announced a series of free training in its city centre venue. The course provides a first-rate introduction and overview of universal credit rules for single parents in Scotland. It includes how the calculation works, the claims and payments process, the conditions placed on claimants and matters unique to Scotland.
Julie Mitchell, OPFS Advice and Information Manager, said:
“The feedback for our courses has been really positive. With the roll-out of UC into more areas our training has been refreshed and, due to its success, is now fully funded. All participants will be given resources to share with colleagues and single parents and access to our Practitioners Advice Helpline for unlimited ongoing support. Tickets are limited, and early booking is recommended.”
Participant feedback on how training will help:
“Fantastic Training. Very informative. Warm & welcoming trainer. Very knowledgeable.”
“I had very little prior knowledge. I feel a lot more confident in my knowledge of this system.”
“A lot of useful information and a much better understanding of procedure and advice we can give clients. Very useful course and I will recommend to others.”
The courses run from Sept and October and can be booked on-line at OPFS website: www.opfs.org.uk/uctraining.
