Consultation on a Child Poverty Bill for Scotland

The consultation on the Scottish Government’s proposals for a Child Poverty Bill includes:

  • Enshrining in legislation our ambition to eradicate child poverty
  • Reinstating statutory income-based targets to reduce the number of children living in poverty
  • Placing a duty on Scottish Ministers to develop a Child Poverty Delivery Plan, and to report
on annually on their progress towards delivering that plan.

Consultation on a Child Poverty Bill for Scotland, Sept 2016 : OPFS submission which says that ending child poverty and socio-economic disadvantage should be at the heart of the Scottish Government’s programme for government for 2017.
