OPFS Edinburgh Fathers Support Service
What we do
- We connect dads with specialised information and advice to make their role as a parent easier.
- We run weekly activity groups for children and their fathers, as well as offering 1:1 support for dads.
- We help reduce isolation by fostering links between families.
Is it for me?
You need to care for your child(ren) either full time or see them regularly.
Is other help available?
We are an independent charity with a lot of experience of the issues facing lone fathers. One Parent Families Scotland also runs a free phone helpline (0808 801 0323) which can give detailed advice on a range of problems such as legal matters, welfare benefits, child support and housing. We also help fathers during the week with issues that might require more time or privacy.
We run our groups in conjunction with Gilmerton Early Years Centre in the South of the city, part of a network of Council-run centres supporting families with young children across Edinburgh. In the North, we also work alongside Dr Bell’s Family Centre, a charity who supports families with young children in Leith.
In Edinburgh we help single mums with employability, mental health and wellbeing, counselling and advice & information. For more information get in touch on details below.
