Us Together celebrates its official launch
One Parent Families Scotland has a 12-year track record of working with lone fathers and their children. On 27th March over 70 delegates came together to officially launch our new project “Us Together: Supporting Scotland’s Children and their Fathers”.
Us Together is funded through the Third Sector Early Intervention Fund. We currently provide services in Dundee, Edinburgh, Falkirk and North Lanarkshire.
The launch was attended by fathers that we currently support and partners including: third-sector organisations, NHS, local authorities, football clubs, Scottish Government, Education Scotland and Skills Development Scotland.
Delegates heard from fathers and children that currently benefit from Us Together. Sean, one of the fathers who spoke said:
“Being a single dad is like being on a road with no map but with support from projects like Us Together you can find your way.”
Rebecca an 11 year old who accesses the Edinburgh project with her dad said:
“I like getting out and about with my dad and doing all the fun activities.”
We also heard from Lorna Stewart, head teacher of Craigroyston Primary about the difference she has seen as a result of a child’s involvement with Us Together:
“I see that dad is more confident to set routines and boundaries…this has resulted in improvements in his sons behaviour.”
